Tennessee Hemp Market Report

News can be used. On May 17th, 2018, a new story broke out of Oregon that may shine light on the future for hemp in Tennessee and well, maybe everywhere.

From Flower Power to Hemp Power.

"A glut of legal marijuana is driving Oregon pot prices to rock-bottom levels, prompting some nervous growers to start pivoting to another type of cannabis to make ends meet — one that doesn’t come with a high."

If you're old enough to recall Yasgur's farm, aka Woodstock, it's noteworthy to see that the hippies on a dairy farm in the summer of 69 - are (older) and now leading a health craze to hemp instead of pot!? Not sure if Joe Cocker saw that coming.

"Applications for state licenses to grow hemp — marijuana’s nonintoxicating cousin — have increased more than twentyfold since 2015, making Oregon No. 2 behind Colorado among the 19 states with active hemp cultivation. The rapidly evolving market comes amid skyrocketing demand for a hemp-derived extract called cannabidiol, or CBD, seen by many as a health aid."

Knowing what we know, some folk get excited - and other discouraged by data.

We see only good news. Americans are ending the stigma and roadblocks to hemp family farms. Plus, with only 19 states running active hemp cultivation, that still leaves massive room for growth. We like growing.

Disclaimer, this ain't legal advice. It's just watching. Talking. And maybe worth 2 cents.
